MBB Law’s articling program aims to groom you to become contributing members of the legal community and future partners of the firm.
We are committed to provide you with a broad and practical articling experience. You will receive a hands-on experience with actual contribution to the files we handle and direct contact with clients. You are given the opportunity to work with senior lawyers and observe client meetings. You will work alongside senior lawyers on transactions from start to finish. You will attend structured professional development programs.
- have good academic credentials
- be able to work under pressure and tight time lines
- be willing to work as part of a team
- be able to read, write and speak Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin)
- be a self-starter who is detail oriented and show strong initiative
- have Canadian law degree or NCA

Edward Choi: Articling at MBB has developed me personally and professionally. I had the opportunity to handle and assist in a number of files including small claims, real estate, litigation, immigration, corporate, tax, and dispute resolution. Throughout my experience, I have not only learned the law, but also about working with clients and other parties, practical legal skills, and the operation of a law firm. I learned to use accounting and billing systems, timekeeping software, corporate search systems, and real estate and conveyancing software. J. P.: The articling experience at Metcalfe, Blainey & Burns LLP was challenging but rewarding. The first day of articling, I was given the task of revising a shareholder’s agreement – something that I have not had the opportunity to do in law school. The experience brought into perspective real world practice compared to theories learned in the classroom. The highlight of my articling experience was shadowing litigation counsel at discoveries. Logan Gong: Articling at MBB Law provides you with a practical hands-on experience that you will seldom get at larger firms, all the while exposing you to intellectually challenging legal issues. Here you are not treated as a student-at-law, but as a lawyer-to-be.
Fantasia Qian: Articling at MBB was a great balance of practical, hands-on experience and theoretical learning. The files that I was exposed to are varied in type and they gave me a wide learning opportunity. The fast-paced environment kept me engaged and on my toes, but even when I felt uncertain, I never felt lost because the MBB family was always there to help. The partners have all given me great mentorship and I cannot thank them enough for their patience and guidance. Each of them are superstar lawyers and together they have put together a superstar team. It’s my honour to be part of that team, and my articling experience as definitely been a great one.
